Alison Schmauch and Ilya Somin will be married on September 25, 2010 in Washington, D.C.. Alison is the daughter of Bruce and Cynthia Schmauch of Allentown. Ilya is the son of Yefim and Sofya Somin of Lexington, MA. Alison holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law. She serves as special assistant and counsel to Gail Heriot of the U.S. Commission of Civil Rights. Ilya holds an undergraduate degree from Amherst College, a master's degree in political science from Harvard University, and a J.D. from Yale. He is a law professor at George Mason University. They reside in Arlington, Virginia.
